elevate your mind with cacao

As more people seek alternative methods for self-discovery, healing and growth, Cacao Ceremonies have become increasingly popular for their ability to promote mindfulness and personal growth.

A tradition that originates from ancient Mayan and Aztec, this sacred drink is proven to give the body a gentle, yet sustained boost of energy and foster heart-centred connections.

We sat down with Holistic Wellness Specialist Christina Cerone who delves deep into the teachings and practices of incorporating cacao into holistic wellness rituals, and the importance of Cacao Ceremonies, during a path of self-discovery.

Hi Christina! Please introduce about yourself, and share your journey within holistic wellness.

Thank you for the opportunity to share my story. My name is Christina, I am a holistic wellness intuitive healer and natural makeup artist. My journey began working in beauty and makeup where I fell in love with clean and natural beauty products.

A back injury led me to my own personal journey as I searched for holistic solutions. I began discovering plant medicine ceremonies, and energy healings where I felt the impact of these so deeply. I instantly wanted to help others on their path to well-being, encompassing physical, mental, and spiritual aspects and holding space for individuals to honour their unique journeys, offering support and healing.

How did you get started with cacao?

After sitting in ceremony, I came to realise the sacred relationship between the physical and spiritual worlds. I had a strong pull to bring the ancient wisdom of ceremony to everyday life, and live with a deep connection to spirit and nature to be at our highest potential.

I knew it was time to share my own medicine and my own teaching I had gained to others. So, I ran my very first ceremony for close friends and now, many years later I run regular Cacao Ceremonies and one on one healings.

Tell us about the importance of cacao to you.

For me, cacao surpasses its identity as a mere superfood, as sacred plant medicine. In my work as a holistic wellness specialist, I integrate cacao within ceremonies and rituals.

Not only is cacao one of the richest sources of antioxidants, magnesium, iron and zinc, it also contains theobromine which helps improve focus and clarity. It extends beyond its nutritional benefits, serving as a catalyst for profound healing and self-discovery. I've witnessed firsthand its ability to facilitate deep emotional release, and enhance spiritual exploration. Each encounter with cacao is a reminder of the innate wisdom and healing power of nature.

What can I expect from a cacao ceremony?

Deep connected to one's self, a deep connection to spirit and the spirit of the plant.

Cacao is a powerful heart opening medicine. It allows you to have an insightful view of your intention, that can offer you a transformative potential, and help in many ways to heal, clear, balance and deepen your meditation practices.

In essence, ceremonial cacao offers more than just sustenance, it offers a gateway to profound self-discovery and spiritual awakening. With each sip, you honour the wisdom of the ancients and embark on a journey of healing and transformation.

Is there a difference between cacao and ceremonial cacao and what are the benefits of ceremonial grade cacao?

Processing and preparation of Ceremonial grade cacao is kept to a minimum. It is rich in antioxidants and a stimulant that can help to increase focus and clarity.

It embodies the ancient spirit of the Mayans. As you sit with this sacred plant medicine, you connect not only with its physical essence but also with the deep-rooted spirituality it represents. Through Cacao Ceremonies, we can open ourselves up to spiritual and emotional healing, finding balance and alignment within yourself.

Where do you look for inspiration?

Nature has a profound influence on my personal growth. I watch the simplest ways nature exists and gain inspiration from the beauty that lies within. When I am fully with nature, my intuition is at its highest connection, which then allows me to deepen my inspiration and feel what is needed to be shared, learnt or shed.

What does beauty mean to you?

Beauty is not just something to be seen, it is felt. A sacred power we have within us. A power we use to be kind, to love, to cry, to share, to support, to honour, to care for, to open ourselves, to release, to emanate passion, to flow, to be gentle.

Beauty is nature. Beauty comes from within. Beauty is to enhance, not cover.
